Anglian Water has embarked on a project to equip its private pumping stations with Servelec Technologies’ Seprol S2000micro remote telemetry units. Engineers from Servelec Technologies, a market-leading global provider of end-to-end hardware and software products and systems, have worked with Anglian Water throughout the project to provide a turnkey solution that can be installed by the water company’s engineers in minutes. The speed and ease of installation, as a result of the ‘out-of-the-box’ configuration and templates developed and supplied with each unit, was achieved despite Anglian Water using a non-Servelec Technologies top-end SCADA system. This was made possible, as the S2000micro is a mobile communication enabled and fully WITS DNP3 (Water Industry Telemetry Standards) compliant device proving its interoperability with other WITS-approved master stations and field devices.

Simon Harrison, Telemetry and Automation Manager at Anglian Water commented:  “Anglian Water chose to install the WITS-certified S2000micro RTU due to its ease of installation, configuration and affordability. Our engineers have reported to me how the clever design of the unit has made it very straightforward to install, which is perfect for a project manager. Because each device is so easy to install, we have been able to save a significant amount of time and money on this part of the project, thanks to the commitment and skill of the team at Servelec Technologies.”

Servelec delivers efficiency savings to UK water companies’ business operations by creating systems to collect, communicate and exploit data. Servelec can supply a true end-to-end automation and optimisation solution using state-of-the-art RTUs, a secure SCADA and telemetry platform and a suite of business optimisation SaaS solutions.

Neil Butler, Managing Director of Strategic Partnerships at Servelec Technologies added: “We are delighted with the feedback from Anglian Water and it is testament to the close working relationship our engineers have with their project team.  As founder members of WITS and as part of the organisation’s steering committee, we have worked closely with Anglian Water, other UK water companies and suppliers of telemetry solutions to create devices that use common protocols and technologies. In this instance, we have called upon our expert knowledge to develop a suite of templates embedded within the units that has meant that Anglian Water’s engineers have been able to install each RTU in minutes rather than hours or days.”
