Our History

Servelec Controls was originally formed in 1977 to provide control systems to the Sheffield steel industry, quickly moving into the rapidly expanding UK Oil & Gas sector. The business began to service onshore and offshore assets on the UK Continental Shelf and in 1985 opened an office in Aberdeen.

The business enjoyed a further two decades of successful growth in the oil and gas industry and was acquired by Singaporean technology company CSE Global in 2000, changing the company name to CSE Controls.

In the space of three years from 2004, major contracts were won with Centrica (formerly British Gas), Shell and BP, as the reputation for quality and service grew throughout the energy industry.

During this period, Servelec also acquired Scomagg Limited in Motherwell to further serve the growing customer base in the nuclear and power industries.

Under the ownership of Singaporean CSE Global, 2009 saw another landmark contract win for a gas storage facility in Germany operated by Viking, a BP consortium, followed a year later by a control systems framework contract for Sellafield.

In 2010, the group acquired Dinnington-based Systems Integration & Automation (SIA) Limited, further extending the businesses presence in the oil and gas industry.

As the business continued to grow, a new nuclear office was opened in 2012 in Warrington, at the heart of the UK’s nuclear industry, with a focus on developing the capabilities for nuclear safety. In the same year Servelec was awarded an MOD contract for the nuclear submarine base at Faslane.

The following year saw the Motherwell office relocate into bigger premises in Bellshill, just south of Glasgow.

In December 2013 the Group was floated on the main market of the London Stock Exchange and reverted back to the old name of Servelec Controls. The floatation valued the business at £140million and was the biggest UK technology float in three years.

Today the business is one of the leading systems integrators in the UK, with 4 offices, 150 staff and an international presence in more than a dozen countries.
