Are you a developer looking for a new and interesting challenge?
Our systems are used to provide operational (plant) views, collect and store data, issue controls, handle alarms, view historic data trends, and analysis data to help our customer make the most out of their data. The systems are highly resilient and secure as they are often responsible for managing key parts of national infrastructure.
We are looking for a developer to join our development team working primarily on our server side stack. We use a variety of different tools and technologies. The past couple of years we have been moving towards providing browser-based apps for users to interact with our main system, as an alternative to traditional Java-based clients. Additionally, we are currently enhancing our mobile offering with the development of native apps for iOS, Android and Windows, geared towards our customers’ specific requirements.
You will be a dedicated person who is prepared to take responsibility for organising your own tasks to ensure delivery against a schedule. You will work closely with the existing developers in an agile team environment. You can expect to work on a range of projects as an active member of the team. The role will include the following activities: design, coding, test automation, and documentation.
What will you be doing?
Working as an active member of the team developing our SCOPE product suite.
Designing software solutions to meet customer requirements.
Implementing and testing project deliverables.
Contributing to daily SCRUM meetings, providing updates on project progress.
What will you need to be successful?
A degree classification in computing or an allied discipline.
A good foundation in software design and development skills and practices.
Some knowledge and experience of the following as identified :
Experienced C/C++ developer.
Some experience of Java.
Some knowledge of IEC-61131 languages.
Experience of development environments e.g. Eclipse, Intellij etc.
Experience of code management and revision control systems ( svn / GIT )
An understanding of communications protocols - practical experience of their development and troubleshooting would be advantageous.
Knowledge of database concepts - experience of ORACLE/SQL Server/PostgreSQL advantageous
Knowledge of one or more variants of the Linux operating system and scripting languages.
